Blogmas Day 6

Hello friends, yesterday was one of those days where I did a lot of little bits of knitting on lots of things so I don't have pictures to show you. I did, however, keep up with my Advent shawl,

I am seeing a theme emerging with the yarn, especially when I opened up today's surprise.

Hope you all are having a great advent so far. If you have advent knitting I would love to see it either here in the comments or over on the Ravelry group. It would be great to know I am not alone.

Blogmas Day 5

Hello friends, it's a dreich day here so perfect for curling up with my knitting.

Yesterday I played yarn chicken with my advent calendar yarn and lost by a few stitches. I can live with that so will be joining today's yarn on a WS row.

Day 4

Today's yarn is gorgeous and came with a little Santa soap.

I was rummaging around in a cupboard yesterday and discovered these cute snips which I had totally forgotten I had. Being a crazy cat lady I was absolutely delighted that I had found them and have attached them to one of my project bags.

Are you like me, do you sometimes just itch to cast on something new? Yes, I have socks and the advent shawl, but I kept seeing photos on the Ravelry radar of the beautiful ADVENTurer wrap by Ambah O'Brien https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/adventurer-scarf--wrap. This wrap or scarf is written for some of the larger yarn Advent calendars that are out there but I have chosen five yarns from my stash to work together for a wrap in spring colours to remind me over the winter that better things are just around the corner. I am a few days behind but have made a start on colour 2.

Today I will leave you with a picture of my new favourite thing. If you work with yarn you will know the importance of smooth hands. My lovely step-daughter recently gave me these hand creams as a wee gift. I am smitten, sadly we are unable to buy them here in the UK but a lovely friend in Doha has promised me she will bring me some when she comes back for Christmas,

I am a lucky lady.

A real quickie for you today. Yesterday hubs and I were out and about getting appointments sorted and shopping, (real life stuff, boring!!) so not a lot of knitting was done.

Blogmas Day 3

It is a beautiful day here in East Lothian and I am feeling very good about life. I have a sweet pea scented melt in the warmer and I am ready to settle down to some soothing knitting. I hope your advent is treating you well.

Yesterday I finished the first sock of one pair for Operation Christmas Stocking,

Then promptly began the second sock of another pair

Blogmas Day 1

Hello everyone, it's been a while. I have been having some struggles which I won't bother you with.
I am sure everyone will agree with me that it has been a quick year with lots of ups and downs so I thought a little Christmas cheer was in order. Way back in June I ordered an Advent Calendar from Rosie's Moments and each day until Christmas I will share with you the goodies which appear and the knitting done. I will open the package early each day and do the knitting later so will share the growing pattern a day later.
I also have some very important knitting going on which is for Operation Christmas Stocking, an initiative between a knitter and a podiatrist to offer a foot checkup and a warm pair of cosy socks to homeless people. I have already sent two pairs and have some more on the needles, the progress of which I will share with you this month.
Enough of me blabbing, time for some pictures.

Sunday 9th September

Hello again.
It has been 2 weeks since I last was able to write a coherent sentence. I have been given a new medication by the doctor which whilst helping me sleep, which I hadn't been able to do for a couple of months, is also responsible for my brain being about 10 paces behind my body or the other way about, I can't decide which. I am so wobbly it must be quite funny to watch me try to walk. I have been crafting though, and have made quite a bit of progress on some of my current projects.

Firstly here is my Mum's Magic blanket

I have completed parts 3 and 4 and joined them together. The blanket is growing and changing shape with every new part that comes along. It is such a fun project you are never sure what will be coming next so are always keen to keep moving along.

In knitting, I finished my wurm hat.

It is so cosy and soft and was such an easy knit. I already have another two on the needles for gifts.

Speaking of gifts, preparations are well underway for "the day which shall not be named". This year I wanted to do something a wee bit different and after scouring the internet for ideas I found these beauties on Etsy.

They were exactly what I was looking for. Each bag comes with 24 little bags and stickers for you to fill up with whatever goodies you want to put in them. I am looking forward to finding some interesting bits and bobs and hope the recipients enjoy their Advent surprises.

Speaking of surprises, I have had three lovely surprises myself. All have come in the shape of mystery boxes from Rosie's Moments.
First is the August accessories box which I forgot to share last month,

This "Back to School" themed box came stuffed with useful goodies perfect for any knitter and had a fabulous pattern for fingerless mitts.
The September box has lots of pampering treats which I am really looking forward to using and a pattern for a gorgeous shawl.

And finally, I decided to try the September mystery sock box. I was stunned and delighted with what came in this "Russia" themed box.

 The yarn in this box is so pretty, it has a gold sparkle to it which the camera cannot pick up.

That's about all I can manage to write, for now, I can feel myself slipping into sleep mode again. I will leave you with this image of our two littles cuddled up and take myself off for a nap.
